YOKOSAKA TATSUYA x Post O’Alls Video Clip
In the summer of 2023, designer Ohfuchi was introduced by an acquaintance to an artist named Tatsuya Yokosaka who drew old Porsches, and went to his exhibition. Shortly before that, Ohfuchi saw a cool old Porsche 911 on Instagram which had been modified into a safari version by raising its height and he liked it. He found a similar 911 in Yokosaka’s drawings and was attracted by the design of the drawings which looked like a Tamiya model box as well... then Ohfuchi bought the drawing. Later, as he looked at the drawing and thought, “ I like it...wondering if I could ask him to do something for Post O’Alls.....” Then, one of his employees came to an idea that it would be interesting to ask Yokosaka to do a visual remix of his animation and a video that Post O'Alls had shot for a exhibition in 2001…we decided to make such a request. The video was shot on early morning of an August day in 2001, when Ohfuchi drove his car through Manhattan, and photographer Katsu Naito shot a video from passenger seat. The video was a rare opportunity to feel the mood of New York in the early 2000s, and it showed the World Trade Center well just before it collapsed the following week. The animation by Tatsuya Yokosaka and the video are docked together to create a new funky world of Post O'Alls.
2023年の夏、デザイナーの大淵が知人から古いポルシェの絵を描いているヨコサカタツヤというアーティストがいる、と紹介されて彼の個展に行ってみました。その少し前、大淵は車高を上げてサファリっぽく？改造した古いポルシェ911をインスタグラムで見てから気になっており・・・まさにそのような仕様の911の絵をヨコサカタツヤさんの個展で見つけ、タミヤの模型の箱のような絵のデザインにも惹かれ・・・気がついたら購入していました。そして後日、絵を見ながら“やっぱりいいな・・・”と思い、彼に何かお願い出来ないかな・・・と考えていたら、Post O’Allsのスタッフの一人がヨコサカさんのアニメーションと、Post O’Allsが以前2001年の展示会用に撮ったビデオをリミックスしてビジュアルを作ってもらったら面白いのでは？という事になり・・・そのような依頼をさせて頂きました。そのビデオは、2001年の８月の早朝、大淵がマンハッタンをクルマで流して写真家のカツ内藤氏が助手席からの風景をビデオに撮ったもので、その映像を編集したディスクを日本の展示会でノベルティとして配りました。そのビデオには図らずとも次の週に崩れ落ちる直前のワールドトレードセンターが大きく写っており、2000年代初頭のニューヨークのムードが感じられる貴重なものでした・・・そんなビデオとヨコサカタツヤさんのアニメーションがドッキングして、PostO’Allsの新しいファンキーな世界が完成しました。
