I opted to style the stripe shirt coverall with maroon, a color that isn’t in high demand but matches well with sax colors. Overall, a casual ensemble with the mesh hunting vest and reverse-weave sweatpants.
#1108R Ranchero 2
The 1-pocket trucker jacket in black denim evokes a little outlaw imagery, but the surf poster on the wall won me over. The 60’s henry-neck pull over shirt also has a surf line print. Overall, the styling is a modern take on after-session wear for longboarders.
#1123 BDU-R
The tiger camo takes on a subtle tone as the pattern aligns with the color scheme of the other items, hence I chose patterned pants. Maybe we can neutralize the military feel by coordinating with 60’s 5-pocket slim pants? Then mellow out the pattern with white Post O’Alls helmet bag and white sweatshirt.
#2114F NAVY BLU-F
In my quest to find a characteristic inner layer to complement the US N hickory coverall and pants, I stumbled upon a 50’s open-collar shirt jacket. The big paisley pattern fabric is transparent. A cross combination of sexy and traditional. Small adjustments such as showing the ankle drawcords for the pants was quite fun.
#1105 NAVY Parka
The USN pull over jacket has great design around the hood and collar and matches well with 90’s styling. The pants are quite flashy, but it would also match well with 90’s wide/baggy monotone pants. It’s also fun to close the collar strap so that the face is only shown a little bit.
POST Chinois
I recommend wearing the Chinois set-up like a suit for those who don’t wear suits casually. If worn clean and proper, you can enjoy a slack that isn’t available for suits. The double cuff shirt is worn lazily as if to say, “I don’t own cuff buttons.” Also pairing with a casual bag can create an off-tilt balance.
#3108 WALKABOUT 4
Blending West Coast style with East Coaster Post O’Alls items. Inspired by the imagery of 90’s West Coast surfers that wear boardshorts daily. Of course, the boardshorts are not baggy but the correct size to be worn in the ocean. I imagine surfers, fresh from a session wearing this jacket.
#3211 NEUTRA 3
One may ask “Is it okay to wear a shirt over a shirt?” Absolutely. The NEUTRA 3 shirt features asymmetrical pocket on both sides, so it’s a waste to hide it as an inner layer, hence it was used as an outer. As an inner layer a 60’s skipper collar shirt was chosen. For shirt-on-shirt pairing, it’s important to choose items with varying collar designs. When it’s warmer out, you can wear shirts as outerwear.
#3211BS NEUTRA 4 S/S
A Post O’Alls shirt made with breezy fabric and color that can be matched with leather pants in the summer. The pants are a 70’s thin and soft leather flare pants (not biker pants). It still would be hot in the summer, so no T-shirt underneath the shirt. The Post O’Alls helmet bag creates a hippy feel when combined with the pants. This styling might make you want to tag peace signs with a marker.
#3502 DEE Vest
The Post O’Alls DEE Vest stands as an all-year staple, fitting for any occasion. When matching with current vintage wear, I opted for a 90’s cotton sweater. Best to be worn a little hidden since these sweaters usually have vibrant colors and patterns. Also avoid wearing a B.D. shirt underneath since it will become too “showa” (post-war high-growth period in Japan).
Overall, a casual ensemble with the mesh hunting vest and reverse-weave sweatpants.
