I've been spending a lot of time at home due to the coronavirus pandemic, and while I was surfing eBay, my eyes caught my eye on an embroidered hippie-style chambray shirt that I had forgotten about for a long time. The wardrobe I had a long time ago came back to life, and I remembered that I had various hand-embroidered hippie-style items and goods, and when I searched on eBay, I found more than I expected. Not only was it sold at a high price, but it also didn't have the size or embroidery to my liking, so I became dissatisfied with it. So I decided to try hand embroidery on a chambray shirt that I already had, and I started working on it. At first, I started with simple images, and as I gradually improved, I was able to create difficult images, and my dreams expanded greatly. The first chambray shirt I made felt like it was used as an experiment by a bad TATTO artist, but after washing it many times, it has taken on a vintage look and is now in my hands.

BRAND images include my roots in Japan (JAPAN) and New York, NYC (I ❤NY), my favorite worldview such as NATIVE AMERICAN (native jewelry, icons, etc.), military mascots such as US, MILITARY, etc. By adding hand embroidery to each item based on my own hand-drawn sketches based on the category of ROCK AMERICA (BAND name, image, etc.), each icon image takes shape. The charm and uniqueness of hand embroidery is that the same icon may have slightly different colors and shapes from time to time, so no two are the same and each piece is unique.

The brand name, OTAKARA NYC, means Treasure NYC in Japanese, and the brand name originates from my wish and message that my hand-embroidered works will become treasures for those who obtain them.
