In the 1980s, there was a select shop in Tokyo’s Shimokitazawa district called GYRO. Post O’Alls designer Takeshi Ohfuchi was a devoted fan of the shop’s original chinos, and a replica of those iconic trousers now arrives as a new style for Spring/Summer 2027. At the time, vintage US military chinos and British Army Gurkha trousers were personal staples among military-inspired bottoms, but GYRO’s chinos stood apart. Looking at them today, it is clear that their origin can be traced back to vintage French trousers, although that influence was not recognized at the time—it was simply a pair of trousers that felt effortlessly right. Distinctive details include the front double welt pockets and inward-facing front pleats, features rarely found on traditional American chinos. The result is a refined silhouette with a character all its own.

1980年代に東京の下北沢にGYROというセレクトショップがありました。Post O’Allsのデザイナーである大淵毅は、そのショップのオリジナル・チノパンが大好きでした。そのパンツのレプリカが、2027SSの新型として登場しました。当時は古着の米軍のチノパンやイギリス軍のグルカパンツなどが個人的なミリタリーボトムの定番でしたが、GYROのチノパンは別でした。今の目で見るとビンテージのフレンチがオリジンであることがわかりますが、当時はわからずに気に入ってはいていました。通常のアメリカのチノパンには見られない、フロントのWウエルトポケットとインタックが特徴となっています。
